The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of those who establish proper ranks. 1 And so are strong in repelling (evil), 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 that your Lord is the only Lord. 4 the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them; the Lord of the Easts. 5 Verily We! We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment: the stars. 6 (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits, 7 they listen not to the High Council, for they are pelted from every side, 8 With a driving fusillade, and theirs shall be a torment perpetual; 9 Some of them who stealthily steal words from the heavens are pursued by a glistening flame. 10 Then ask them (i.e. these polytheists, O Muhammad SAW): "Are they stronger as creation, or those (others like the heavens and the earth and the mountains, etc.) whom We have created?" Verily, We created them of a sticky clay. 11 You marvel (at the wondrous creations of Allah) and they scoff at it, 12 And when they are admonished, they receive not admonition. 13 and whenever they see some sign, they ridicule it, 14 And they say: This is nothing but clear magic: 15 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then certainly be raised, 16 And our forefathers? 17 Say thou: and verily ye; shall then be despicable. 18 It will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e. the second blowing of the Trumpet)], and behold, they will be staring! 19 They will say, "Woe to us! This is the Day of Reckoning." 20 This is the Day of Judgment in which you disbelieved. 21
