When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
