And make mention (O Muhammad) of Our bondman Job, when he cried unto his Lord (saying): Lo! the devil doth afflict me with distress and torment. 41 'Stamp thy foot! This is a laving-place cool, and a drink.' 42 And We gave him (back) his people, and doubled their number,- as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who have Understanding. 43 And take in thine hand a handful of twigs, and strike therewith, and break not thine oath. Verily We! We found him patient. How excellent a bondman! Verily he was oft-returning. 44 And remember Our servants Ibrahim and Ishaq and Yaqoub, men of power and insight. 45 Verily We exalted them in consideration of a sterling quality: their remembrance of the Abode of the Hereafter. 46 And most surely they were with Us, of the elect, the best. 47 And commemorate Isma'il, Elisha, and Zul-Kifl: Each of them was of the Company of the Good. 48 This is an admonition, and verily for the God-fearing is a happy retreat: 49 Gardens of Eden with gates open wide to them, 50 Therein they will recline; therein they will call for fruits in abundance and drinks; 51 ۞ And with them are those of modest gaze, companions. 52 This it is that ye are promised for the Day of Reckoning. 53 Lo! this in truth is Our provision, which will never waste away. 54 This (for the virtuous); but for the transgressors the evil destination, 55 Hell! Where they will burn, and worst (indeed) is that place to rest! 56 This, [then, for them] so let them taste it: burning despair and ice-cold darkness 57 and, coupled with it, further [suffering] of a similar nature. 58 (We shall say to their leaders): 'This is a troop rushing in with you, there is no welcome for them, they shall roast in the Fire' 59 They shall say: Nay! you-- no welcome to you: you did proffer it to us, so evil is the resting-place. 60 They will say, "Our Lord, whoever brought this upon us - increase for him double punishment in the Fire." 61 And they shall say: What is the matter with us that we do not see men whom we used to count among the vicious? 62 and whom we mocked? Have they been rescued or can our eyes not find them?" 63 Verily all this is true. This is how the inmates of the Fire will dispute among themselves. 64
