۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 “And stop them they are to be questioned.” 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
