Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Clear Book. 2 Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning-- 3 Whereon every wise command is made clear 4 [Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger] 5 as a mercy (for the human being) from your Lord. Your Lord is All-hearing and All-knowing. 6 Lord of the heavens and earth, and all that between them is if you have faith. 7 There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors. 8 Nay, but they are in doubt, playing. 9 Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible, 10 enveloping all mankind, [and causing the sinners to exclaim:] "Grievous is this suffering! 11 O our Sustainer, relieve us of suffering, for, verily, we [now] believe [in Thee]!" 12 How can there be remembrance for them, when a messenger making plain (the Truth) had already come unto them, 13 Then they turned away from him and said, "He is a madman, taught by others!" 14 If We remove the torment a little, you revert back (to misdeeds). 15 On the day when We shall seize them with the greater seizure, (then) in truth We shall punish. 16 ۞ Indeed before that We subjected the Pharaonites to the same test. A noble Messenger came to them 17 "Deliver the creatures of God to me. I am the trusted messenger sent to you. 18 Do not rise up against Allah, I come to you with clear authority. 19 and I take refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you should stone me. 20 “And if you do not believe in me, then have no relation with me.” 21 Moses addressed his Lord, saying, "Lord, these people are sinners". 22 Then (his Lord commanded): Take away My slaves by night. Lo! ye will be followed, 23 And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned." 24 How many were the gardens and the watersprings that they left behind, 25 And fields and grand palaces! 26 And favours amongst which they were rejoicing! 27 As such (it was). And We made other people inherit them. 28 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they allowed any respite. 29
