۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
