۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 What, do we then not die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
