Al-Saaffaat 4 of 5
And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron. 114 and We saved them and their people from the awesome calamity [of bondage,] 115 And We helped them, so they were victorious. 116 And We vouchsafed unto the twain a Book luminous. 117 And showed them the straight path, 118 And We perpetuated (praise) to them among the later generations. 119 "Peace be upon Moses and Aaron!" 120 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 121 Indeed, they were of Our believing servants. 122 And Elias (El Yaseen) was among the Messengers. 123 When he said to his people, “Do you not fear?” 124 Call ye upon Bal and forsake the Best of creators. 125 Allah is your Lord and the Lord of your ancestors of yore.” 126 In response they denied him, so they will surely be brought forth as captives. 127 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 128 And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: 129 "Peace upon Elias." 130 As such We recompense the gooddoers. 131 Indeed, he was of Our believing servants. 132 And Lut was most surely of the apostles. 133 when We delivered him and his people all together, 134 Except an old woman (who was) amongst those who tarried. 135 Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir]. 136 and you pass by them in the morning 137 And at night; do you not then understand? 138

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
