Hizb 46

Jonah too was one of the messengers. 139 He abandoned his people 140 and cast lots, and he was among the losers (of the lots that were cast). 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 Now ask them if their Lord has daughters, and they sons? 149 Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)? 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Do you not understand? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 except those who will burn in Hell. 163 [The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position. 164 We stand in ranks (for prayer) 165 we are they that give glory. 166 They used to say before: 167 "If only we had a tradition [to this effect] from our forebears, 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 That they verily would be made triumphant. 172 And verily Our host! they are to be overcome. 173 (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while 174 And wait; they will come to know soon. 175 Do they want to suffer Our torment immediately? 176 But when it shall descend in their court, evil shall then be the morning of the warned ones. 177 So turn away from them for a time 178 And see thou: they themselves shall presently see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. 182
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
