S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before their time [for this very sin]! And [how] they called [unto Us] when it was too late to escape! 3 Now they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them; and the unbelievers say, 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" 5 And the Council of them depart, saying 'Go! Be steadfast to your gods; this is a thing to be desired. 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. 11 Before them the nations of Noah, Aad and Pharaoh, and he of the tentpegs belied, 12 Thamood, the nation of Lot and the dwellers of the Thicket such were the confederates. 13 Not one of them but did deny the messengers, therefor My doom was justified, 14
