S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. 2 How many generations before them did We destroy? In the end they cried (for mercy)- when there was no longer time for being saved! 3 It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a wondrous thing' 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 Has the reminder been revealed to him from among us? Nay! they are in doubt as to My reminder. Nay! they have not yet tasted My chastisement! 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Or is it that theirs is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend by any 10 A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there. 11 Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Pharaoh, the Lord of Stakes, 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified. 14
