We have not created the heavens and earth, and what between them is, for vanity; such is the thought of the unbelievers, wherefore woe unto the unbelievers because of the Fire! 27 Do We consider the righteously striving believers equal to the evil-doers in the land? Are the pious ones equal to those who openly commit sin? 28 This is a Book We have sent down unto thee, blest, that they may ponder the revelations thereof, and that there may be admonished men of understanding. 29 And to David We gave Solomon. An excellent servant, indeed he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allah]. 30 When fast footed steeds were presented to him at evening. 31 He said: verily I have loved the love of earthly good above the remembrance of my Lord until the sun hath disappeared behind the veil. 32 (Then he said): Bring them back to me, and fell to slashing (with his sword their) legs and necks. 33 And assuredly We tried Sulaiman, and set upon his throne a mere body. Thereafter he was penitent. 34 He said, “My Lord! Forgive me and bestow upon me a kingdom, which shall not befit anyone after me; indeed only You are the Great Bestower.” 35 We subjected the wind to him, so that it blew gently at his bidding, wherever he directed it, 36 and the satans, every builder and diver 37 and others also, coupled in fetters: 38 "This is Our gift," (We said to him), "so bestow freely or withhold without reckoning." 39 And verily, nearness to Us awaits him [in the life to come,] and the most beauteous of all goals! 40
