Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 Giving glad tidings and heralding warning; so most of them turned away, therefore they cannot listen (to the truth). 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 Tell them, (O Prophet): “I am only a human being like you. It is revealed to me that your God is One God; so direct yourselves straight to Him, and seek His forgiveness. Woe to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity, 6 who do not pay Zakah, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 Lo! as for those who believe and do good works, for them is a reward enduring. 8
