Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 And you cannot escape from Allah (i.e. His Punishment) in the earth, and besides Allah you have neither any Wali (guardian or a protector) nor any helper. 31 Among His signs are the ships sailing like mountains on the sea: 32 If He will He calmeth the wind so that they keep still upon its surface - Lo! herein verily are signs for every steadfast grateful (heart). - 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 So whatever thing you have been given - it is but [for] enjoyment of the worldly life. But what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who have believed and upon their Lord rely 36 and who shun the more heinous sins and abominations; and who, whenever they are moved to anger, readily forgive; 37 who respond to their Lord and attend to their prayers; who conduct their affairs by mutual consultation and spend out of what We have provided for them; 38 And those who take revenge when rebellion harms them. 39 The retribution of a harmful deed is the harm equal to it; so whoever forgives and makes amends, so his reward is upon Allah; indeed He does not befriend the unjust. 40 And whoever defends himself after his being oppressed, these it is against whom there is no way (to blame). 41 The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous. 42 whoever is patient and forgiving, acts with great courage and resolution. 43
