Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HA MIM. 1 By the Clear Book 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 no Prophet came to them except that they mocked him, 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 If thou wert to question them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' They would be sure to reply, 'they were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge';- 9 He it is who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has provided for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, so that you might follow the right path. 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 And He Who created pairs of all things, and made for you of the ships and the cattle what you ride on, 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 And lo! unto our Lord we surely are returning. 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
