Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 no Prophet came to them except that they mocked him, 7 Then We destroyed those who were stronger than these in prowess, and the case of the ancients has gone before, 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
