And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said to his father and his people: "Verily, I am innocent of what you worship, 26 None [do I worship] but Him who has brought me into being: and behold, it is He who will guide me!" 27 And he made it a word enduring among his posterity; haply so they would return. 28 Nay, but I gave (the good things of this life) to these (polytheists) and their fathers to enjoy, till there came to them the truth (the Quran), and a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) making things clear. 29 And now that the Truth hath come unto them they say: This is mere magic, and lo! we are disbelievers therein. 30 And they say: Why was not this Quran revealed to a man of importance in the two towns? 31 Will they distribute the mercy of your Lord? We distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and We j have exalted some of them above others in degrees, that some of them may take others in subjection; and the mercy of your Lord is better than what they amass. 32 If it were not that all mankind might have become one community [of disbelievers], We could have given all those who deny the Lord of Mercy, houses with roofs of silver, silver staircases to ascend, 33 And (silver) doors to their houses, and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline, 34 And ornament of gold. And yet all that would have been but a provision of the life of the world; and the Hereafter with thy Lord is for the Godfearing. 35
