۞ NOW WHENEVER [the nature of] the son of Mary is set forth as an example, [O Muhammad,] lo! thy people raise an outcry on this score, 57 And they say, “Are our deities better or he?” They did not say this to you except to unjustly argue; in fact they are a quarrelsome people. 58 He was no more than a servant (of Ours), one upon whom We bestowed Our favours and whom We made an example (of Our infinite power) for the Children of Israel. 59 And if it were Our Will, We could make angels from amongst you, succeeding each other on the earth. 60 And verily he is a sign of the Hour wherefore dubitate not thereof, and follow Me: this is the straight path. 61 Let satan not prevent you from the right path. He is your sworn enemy". 62 And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allah and obey me. 63 Lo! Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a right path. 64 Then the groups differed amongst themselves; therefore ruin is for the unjust by the punishment of an agonising day. 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 Friends on that day shall be foes to one another, but the god-fearing. 67
