۞ When the example of Mary's son is quoted before them, your people cry out at it, 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 He was no more than a servant (of Ours), one upon whom We bestowed Our favours and whom We made an example (of Our infinite power) for the Children of Israel. 59 If We had so willed We could have made some of you into angels to become your successors on earth. 60 And indeed Eisa is a sign* of the Last Day, therefore do not ever doubt in the Last Day, and obey Me**; this is the Straight Path. (* The advent of Prophet Eisa to earth for the second time. ** By obeying the Noble Messenger.) 61 And let not the Satan hinder you; verily he is unto you an enemy manifest. 62 And when (Prophet) Jesus came with clear signs, he said: 'I have come to you with wisdom and to clarify to you some of the matters about which you differ. Fear Allah and obey me. 63 "For Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship ye Him: this is a Straight Way." 64 Then the groups differed amongst themselves; therefore ruin is for the unjust by the punishment of an agonising day. 65 They await but the Hour: that it should come upon them of a sudden, while they perceive not. 66 The friends shall on that day be enemies one to another, except those who guard (against evil). 67
