Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the winds which carry dust particles, 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 By heaven with all its tracks 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They slept very little during the night 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 So by oath of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this Qur’an is the Truth, in the same language that you speak. 23
