When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
