Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those (angels) who distribute (provisions, rain, and other blessings) by (Allah's) Command; 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 and the Day of Judgment will inevitably take place. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
