Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 Then he conceived a fear of them (when they ate not). They said: "Fear not." And they gave him glad tidings of an intelligent son, having knowledge (about Allah and His religion of True Monotheism). 28 So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 So they were not able to rise up, nor could they defend themselves- 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
