S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 nay, but the unbelievers glory in their schism. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.” 5 Their assembly left (saying): 'Go, and be patient to your gods, this is something to be desired. 6 Never did we hear of [a claim like] this in any faith of latter days! It is nothing but [a mortal man's] invention! 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Or have they the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord,- the Exalted in Power, the Grantor of Bounties without measure? 9 Or is it that theirs is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend by any 10 The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. 11 Even before them the people of Noah, 'Ad, the mighty Pharoah, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 There was not one but belied the apostles, wherefore justified was My wrath. 14
