Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.' 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 So they were not able to rise up, nor could they defend themselves- 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
