The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 The heart did not deny, what it saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
