Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 He therefore inwardly sensed fear of them; they said, “Do not fear!”; and they gave him the glad tidings of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
