EXHORT, then, [O Prophet, all men:] for, by thy Sustainer's grace, thou art neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!" 30 Tell them: “Wait; I too am waiting with you.” 31 Do their minds command them this [i.e. to tell a lie against you (Muhammad SAW)] or are they people exceeding the bounds (i.e. from Belief in Allah to disbelief). 32 Or do they say, 'He has invented it?' Nay, but they do not believe. 33 Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true! 34 Or were they created of themselves? Or are they the creators? 35 Or, did they create the heavens and the earth? No, their belief is not certain! 36 Or do they have your Lord's treasures in their keeping? Or have absolute authority over them? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 Or hath He daughters whereas ye have sons? 39 Or is it that you ask of them any recompense so that they should fear to be weighed down under the burden of debt? 40 Or do they have knowledge of the Unknown which they write down? 41 Or are they planning a conspiracy? So the conspiracy will befall only upon the disbelievers. 42 Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate! 43 (So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.” 44 So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned. 45 and when their evil plans will be of no benefit to them nor will they be helped. 46 The unjust will suffer other torments besides this but most of them do not know. 47 Be patient, then, (O Prophet), until the judgement of your Lord comes. For surely you are before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise, 48 And in the night also hallow Him, and at the setting of the stars. 49
