The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
