Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 Thamud, 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
