The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
