The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful One 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He has created man: 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
