The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You will become three categories: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and shade extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
