The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
