The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
