The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Who will be honoured 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a host of the ancients 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 and gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
