The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ There hath approached unto mankind their reckoning, while they in neglect are turning away. 1 Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 The Lord said, "Tell them (Muhammad), 'My Lord knows all that is said in the heavens and the earth. He is All-hearing and All-knowing ". 4 "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" 5 Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them (though We sent them signs), will they then believe? 6 And We sent not before thee but men unto whom We revealed; so ask the people of the admonition if ye know not. 7 And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. 8 Then We fulfilled Our promise to them and We saved them and those with them whom We pleased, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
