The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
