The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for those on the Right, 38
