The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
