The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
