The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right. 38
