The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and serried acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
