The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 Gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right. 38
