A company of the former peoples 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 For, behold, in times gone by they were wont to abandon themselves wholly to the pursuit of pleasures, 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times, 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 filling your bellies, with it 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Just consider (the semen) that you emit, 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 Nay, but we are deprived! 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? 69 If We so pleased, We certainly could make it salty. Why, then, are you not grateful? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
