The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 And the moon as she follows in his wake, 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 by the soul and how He formed it, 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 In response they belied him, and hamstrung the she camel – so Allah put ruin over them because of their sins and flattened their dwellings. 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
