Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in a lofty Garden 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
