Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In an elevated garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 nor any food save the filth 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
