Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 Noah said, "My people, I am warning you plainly. 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 “He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” 4 He said, “My Lord! I invited my people night and day.” 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, 9 and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, 10 He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers 11 "'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 God produced you from the earth like a vegetable growth; 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
