The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 arise and give warning! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
